HELP NEEDED
The TNT Minor Baseball Association is asking for help to get the Haley Diamond in Loretto ready for game play this coming season.
**UPDATE*** James Dick has given us a discount price of $20.00 down from $34.00. The total cost of the baseball mix required is now $1,988.80 compared to $3,380.96. We have a donation of $1,000.00 so far. The first game scheduled at Haley is Tuesday May 20th.
The Township of Adjala-Tosorontio did and admirable job in renovating the park. New playground, new lit and paved parking lot. New fencing and backstop for the diamond. New dugouts with new benches and new bleachers for the families and friends to enjoy watching the games. Unfortunately the installation company used limestone screening for the infield. Anyone who has played any kind of baseball knows that limestone screening cuts like glass when you slide. It also becomes very packed and hard over time. We are currently in discussion with James Dick Aggregates with the possibility of having them donate a few hundred tons of their baseball mix infield dressing which will make the diamond playable for the children. Unfortunately talks have stalled at the moment. We have a company that has graciously offered to haul the baseball mix for free and we have contractors willing to do the spreading and rolling of the dressing for free. Because the season opens next week for practices with games scheduled the following week, we are under time constraints. What we are looking for, are businesses to donate to cover the cost of the baseball mix screening as the association cannot cover it and the Township has told us its not in their budget for this season. There are 5 teams dependent on this diamond being playable this season. If you would like to donate or know someone who would please reach out to Ted Scovell, President of TNTBA at 416-616-6777.
